here's the skinny
Why is Kohoka the best choice for a sweet spread?
Because it is mind-blowingly delicious, and you can feel good about having it in your house. We source high quality ingredients with an emphasis on low food miles, and their economic impact on our community and the wellbeing of our planet.
Tell me more!
Our preference is to use ingredients that we can source locally, from our community. Our main ingredient, honey, comes from locally harvested honey from 4th generation beekeepers .
In cases where our ingredients are not produced locally or within Australia, we want to make sure that they are fairly traded and organic, where suppliers are following good economic and environmental practices.
Are Kohoka products organic?
Kohoka will use organic products whenever possible. Two of our three main ingredients for each flavour are organic, with the exception being honey. The reason for this is that our priority is to use local suppliers when we can.
We source our honey locally (less than 15km away) by trusted suppliers we have a relationship with, rather than from suppliers we haven't met from other regions.
Are Kohoka products gluten free?
Yes! Kohoka ingredients do not contain gluten. However, our products are made in a kitchen where gluten ingredients may have been used.
Are Kohoka products nut free?
Yes! Kohoka ingredients do not contain nuts. Some of our ingredients, such as tahini, may be processed in facilities or on machinery that have processed nuts.
Do Kohoka products contain sugar?
Kohoka does not use refined sugars. We use natural, minimally processed honey as our sweetener.
Not only does honey taste better than other sugars, it also contains the highest count of antioxidants and trace minerals compared to other sweeteners.
What is the shelf life of my jar?
Kohoka products have a shelf life of two years and can be stored in a dark, dry place.
My Kohoka has separated, what do I do?
Kohoka may separate from time to time especially in warm weather, because we do not use any emulsifiers or artificial additives. If this happens, simply warm your jar and then give it a good stir.
